چکیده

Abstract—In the coherent change detection application of repeat pass SAR interferometry (InSAR) the scene coherence is used to detect areas of man-made scene disturbance. The sensitivity of this technique however is dependent on the extent of decorrelation across the scene that arises due to processing aberrations, system noise and environmental effects. Formulating the detection problem as a hypothesis testing problem leads to a new log likelihood change statistic with significantly improved detection performance [1]. The statistic however, requires accurate estimates of the unknown hypothesis parameters to be obtained from the interferometric image pair. This paper extends work by the authors [1] by examining the loss in detection performance that arises due to errors in the estimates of the scene partial coherence and interferometric phase required in the formulation of the log likelihood change statistic. The technique is applied to a repeat pass InSAR image pair collected using the DSTO Ingara X-band SAR where these parameters must be estimated adaptively over the scene.

The Use of C- and L-Band Repeat-Pass Interferometric SAR Coherence for Soil Moisture Change Detection in Vegetated Areas

Soil moisture estimation studies using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) routinely utilise only the amplitude part of the received echo. In this study, repeat-pass Cand L-band interferometric SAR coherence from 2007 2009 was evaluated for the detection of surface soil moisture changes in the presence of vegetation using two different approaches. In the first analysis, the association between low c...

Physics-Based Predictions for Coherent Change Detection Using X-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar

A theoretical model is developed to describe the interferometric coherency between pairs of SAR images of rough soil surfaces. The model is derived using a dyadic form for surface reflectivity in the Kirchhoff approximation. This permits the combination of Kirchhoff theory and spotlight synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image formation theory. The resulting model is used to describe the interferom...

Monitoring of Deforestation in Tropical Rain Forest Areas by Using Insar - Comparison between L-band and C-band Sar -

ABSTRACT: The author compared the capability of coherence information obtained from interferometric SAR (InSAR) by C-band SAR of ERS-1 and 2 and by L-band SAR of JERS-1 for the purpose of monitoring the changes of tropical rain forest due to deforestation. The test site was a southern part of Sumatra Island with 50 by 50 kilometers coverage. The several repeat-pass interferometric data pairs by...

Slope Stability Monitoring Using Space-borne Repeat- Pass Sar Interferometry

A variation of the landslide activity is expected according to the climate change in the Alps, especially in permafrost environment. Mountain areas are not very well controlled by monitoring systems due to the high costs. Therefore, satellite data and especially repeatpass SAR interferometric techniques are an important option for the monitoring. In our contribution differential SAR interferome...

Coregistration of interferometric SAR images using spectral diversity

This article presents a technique for the determination of the relative misregistration between two interferometric SAR images. The proposed technique is based on the spectral properties of the complex SAR signal. Unlike conventional coregistration methods, the proposed technique does not need any interpolation nor cross-correlation procedures and also no coherence or fringe optimization must b...
